Red flags on entertainment

Red Flags : When Booking Guest Entertainers (and How to Avoid Them)

When you’re responsible for entertainment on a cruise ship, mistakes are expensive and damaging to the brand. Here are five warning signs to look for in guest entertainers:

  1. No cruise experience – A brilliant act on land can crumble at sea. The environment is unique.
  2. Overcomplicated tech requirements – If an act needs a full rock-concert setup for a 45-minute slot, run.
  3. Reputation for unreliability – Word spreads fast in the cruise industry. If they cancel often, there’s a reason.
  4. Material that doesn’t translate – Audiences are international. References that only work in one culture can risk falling flat - especially in comedy.
  5. An inflated ego – The ship doesn’t need a prima donna, it needs a professional.

At the Ministry of Magic, we filter for these issues long before bookers ever have to. We have experience in performing on all levels of cruise ships and know how to prepare (and vet!) our acts. We handpick the acts we put forward, not a scattergun approach used by bigger bulk booking agencies, but selected, curated professionals picked for a specific line.

Our curated roster removes the guesswork and eliminates the risk.
